Have you been suffering from the condition of Varicose Veins? Well, if you are, then mind it that you are not alone at all in this. The problem of Varicose Veins is quite common and is treatable. If your workday restricts your movements on an everyday basis or stops you from moving around too much or puts you down to one sitting position only, then you are probably at a higher risk of developing Varicose Veins.

Understand most thoroughly about Varicose Veins, are twisted and inflamed veins that can happen in any part of the body. But most commonly they occur in the legs because your entire body weight falls on them. This is indeed not a serious problem but can get extremely discomforting and can turn into a serious condition if ignored.

Symptoms of Varicose Veins

  • The feeling of heaviness or pain or itchiness in the legs. And if you are standing for long intervals, the symptoms might increase.

  • Bulging or swelling of veins under the skin that is noticeable.

  • Cramping or pain in the legs while standing.

Risk factors associated with developing Varicose Veins

1 Age Factor

With aging, your veins also get older, and over time the walls get weaker which increases the risk of developing Varicose Veins. Especially if an individual is over 40, precautions are needed to be taken.

2 Obesity or overweight

Another risk of developing Varicose Veins is weight gain or being obese. When your body weight increases, your veins can shrink to the side and that builds pressure and tension on the walls. If you consider and try to lose some weight, you might be able to cure this condition.

3 Pregnancy

If you are pregnant, you are at risk of developing Varicose Veins. When the fetus is growing inside the uterus, it puts a lot of pressure on the lower abdomen which hinders blood circulation in the legs and can cause varicose veins. But once the baby is delivered, this problem goes off on its own.

4 Nature of your profession

If your job demands sitting or standing for long hours without any other body movement, know that you are certainly at risk of developing Varicose Veins.

5 Family History

Many people are completely oblivious to this factor that if the condition of Varicose Veins runs in your family, there is a high possibility that you might get it at some point in your life. But with a good and healthy lifestyle, you might be able to avoid it.

It is not at all necessary that if you fall under any of the above-mentioned categories, you will get Varicose Veins. But it is always a good idea to stay educated regarding these topics so that you can take extra precautions and avoid having Varicose Veins in the early stages. Never forget to consult an experienced doctor about these problems and get proper treatment.
